Back in 2006 in conjunction with the release of the Narnia movie 'The Lion, The Witch & The Wardrobe', New Zealand issued a large $10 coin containing 1 ounce of pure gold and featuring Aslan, the lion in the story. The mintage limit was set at a hopeful 2500 although only an initial run of 500 were ever struck. Even this was far too many and more than half (271) were melted down leaving a very modest mintage of only 229 pieces.

This low mintage piece made it onto collectors' radar when the true mintage became known and it has a catalogue value of $3300 which is understandable.
