James I (1603-1625), second coinage, Spur Ryal, m.m. escallop (over rose on rev.), iacobvs d g mag brit fran et hib rex, king holding sword and shield, standing in ship, i on flag at stern, rose on side of ship, rev. a dno factvm est istvd et est mirabile, rose on spur rowel at centre, lis and crowned lions around (cf. Schneider 11-13; N.2080; S.2614), extremely fine, very rare.

The obverse legend reads IACOBUS DG MAG BRIT FRAN ET HIBER REX which translates, roughly, to 'James by the grace of God King of Great Britain France and Ireland.' The reverse legend reads DNO FACTUM EST ISTUD ET EST MIRAB IN OCULIS NRIS and an approximate translation is 'This is the Lord's doing and it is marvelous in our eyes.'
