This is an original copper plate engraving by the famous sporting engraver John Whessell after a painting by Sartorious also famous as a painter of Race Horses and rural scenes.
The race is between Hambletonian and Diamond at the Beacon Course Newmarket
25th March 1799 . Published by John Harris

There is a minor repair to the top edge of the plate. Otherwise in fine condition. One of the most famous equestrian prints ever.
