Extreemly scarce Romanian (15 year) XV service medal instituted September 1913 to be conferred to re-hired sergeants for 15 years of a dignified and honerable military service. Made of bronze the obverse showed the Roman numerals XV written on a wreath of laurel leaves.Within the wreath and between the arms of a cross is a round medallion with King Carol 1st's effigy and the inscription "CAROL 1 - THE KING OF ROMANIA" The reverse is a garland of oak and laurel leaves, the crownd royal cypher and the inscription"RASPLATA SERVICIULUI MILITAR"... (Reweard for military service). A silver plated version of this medal was issued for 20 years service. Not original ribbon.
