Art of swords isn’t just about the beauty of craftsmanship and metallurgy, it is a study of how the various sword fighting systems were developed and how actually the swords supposed to be trained and used.

To promote the authentic Chinese sword fighting arts, Enlightenment sword and Lian Wu Tang Kung Fu School NZ have been working together to design and make these bamboo training swords to meet traditional training methods requirements.

A good training / sparring sword must be well shaped and balanced, have good flexibility, can be maneuvered with speed, durability to withstand impact and more importantly, safe for swordsmen.

Therefore, while wooden sword might be ok for learning slow moves, they are never good enough to spar with. Let alone those ill-made plastic or form training swords that are totally out of shape, no defined edge and can only be used like a bat.

Traditionally, Chinese swordsmen chose bamboo swords for sword fight training, due to the unique characteristics of bamboo made swords.

The problem nowadays is that we no longer can find those specific species of bamboo with large enough diameter to make well shaped sword. Therefore, Enlightenment sword has come up a solution by using laminate bamboo to recreate proper sparring swords that meets all the requirements.

No sharp angle, well shaped and balanced with good nature bamboo looking. These swords might look simple from photos, but a true sword fighting artist will surely appreciate the details we put in.
