Little is known of the specific history of this beret other than it was purchased by me from an Epsom antique shop in the early 1970s. It is of the type worn in South Vietnam, with the correct badge backing and bronze officer’s badge.

It has had considerable service wear, with the lining removed as was typically the case. The band has one minor crack and fading of the top is apparent, as seen with most berets with SVN service. However it retains a very appealing overall appearance. It measures to around 56 cm.
