Description

'The Puzzle of Europe' is a New Zealand made 256-piece puzzle from 1943.There are no pieces missing from this rarity of New Zealand design and manufacture, but a few have become slightly damaged and a couple have a little piece of each missing (see image of completed puzzle). Each piece of 'The Greatest Jig-Saw Problem of the Age' is ingeniously designed the form of an interlocking swastika. Included is a slightly battered paper image of the completed jigsaw. Drop into Te Papa if you want to view the real thing. It's awash with nationalistic hyperbole all copyrighted to a company named 'Mere" with a catch line 'for merriment'.The graphics on the box (also slightly battered), are a treat in themselves.
