MADE in England Circa 1912 by John Harper & Company & her design REGISTERED on March 29, 1911

This the FIRST type produced by the Harper Co

This 1st type had a CAST IRON arm that proved to be too fragile & easily broke when played with by boisterous children

Undamaged CAST Iron arms are VERY SCARCE indeed (they break !)

Missing her base plate (Could be obtained from a cheap repro. at reasonable cost)

Otherwise EXCELLENT original condition NO repaint NO damage NO repairs & in FULL WORKING ORDER

She displays the Registered Design number both inside & out

Sadly this attempt to PROTECT the design from counterfeiting was unsuccessful, As do most-all of the many FAKE "Dinah" these days

Recently the collector's market & the WWW has been polluted with 1000's of poorly-made FAKES all coming out of India & all to frequently sold by fraudulent toerags as "genuine"

There are many ways to ID the Indian made fakes, which are rather poorly cast with less detail, a smaller size ("shrinkage" due to being cast from the original)

Most show acid-induced "age" rusting internally or have the BOGUS circular coin trap & rubber bung

More recently Dinah's have been produced with spurious maker's names such as the USA based "J&E Stevens & Co." (Who NEVER produced this bank at all)

Another certain way to spot the reproductions is a SCREW holding together her arm as BOTH the pressed Steel & the cast Iron arms were ONLY EVER secured by RIVETS
