Mevu - 2005 Save the Whales.
The small Antarctic land of Mevu has added its voice to oppose the illegal hunting of endangered whales and orcas, which dwell in Antarctic waters. These are now at risk, due to plunder by illegal whale-hunting ships of Japan, who ignore the treaty protecting whales. Much useful work is being done by Sea Shepherd to save the whales: view their website at http://www.seashepherd.org
Orca is also known as "killer whales", though they are actually a relative of the dolphins and do not kill humans.
This auction is for the full set of four stamps on an unaddressed First Day Cover, with postmark Mevu G.P.O., 15th August 2005.
