Description
This oil on canvas is dated 2007. It is in perfect condition, framed in painted wood. The artwork measurers 1630m height x 1390mm wide plus frame.
David Armitage studied at the Royal Melbourne Institute of Technology from 1960-1965 and from 1967-1973 lived and exhibited widely in New Zealand. Prior to his permanent departure for the UK in 1973, a survey exhibition toured NZ's public galleries and in the same year David was awarded a QEII Arts Council award.
David continues to exhibit at galleries including 199 and Atlantis Galleries in London, Fruitmarket in Edinburgh, Mitre Gallery in Chichester, and Hanover Gallery in Liverpool. His works are held in private collections throughout New Zealand, Australia, Europe, USA, and St Catherine’s College, Cambridge (UK).
In 1974 a publication edited by Luit Bieringa accompanied "David Armitage: A Survey Exhibition" , organised by the Dunedin Public Art Gallery
