This lovely work is by Auckland artist Hannah Jensen and was created for me in 2008.

The work depicts 2 peony roses. The work is 350mm wide and 400mm high.

Hannah's technique involves anywhere between 25 – 75 layers of paint being applied to board. The board was then then carved (like we did with lino cut at school) to create this beautiful work.

The result is a work with amazing variations of colour, texture and shadow.

Hannah Jensen graduated from Auckland University of Technology in 2004 with a Bachelor of Visual Arts majoring in printmaking and moved on to this style of painted medium after graduation.

To my knowledge her technique is unique and results in fascinating and amazing art.
