Description
Iconic Kiwi artist Flox created three original artworks, each 1.5m wide by 2m high, to launch a new partnership between Seventh Generation and Million Metres to restore the Rangihoua wetland on Waiheke Island.
Seventh Generation has pledged to donate all proceeds from the auctions to Project Rangihoua on Waiheke Island, alongside match-funding every dollar received from the auctions, effectively doubling the fundraising effort.
Flox's notes on the artwork: "The artwork is a celebration of Aotearoa’s threatened wetlands. These artworks represent growth, employing tree shaped forms interweaved with both natives (Karaka and Akatea) and flora found in the garden (chrysanthemum and mint leaves), a homeage to the taonga of the Rangihoua wetland.
Perched in each tree, is the Kotare, Piwakawaka and Korimako (Kingfisher, Fantail and Bellbird) resulting in exploding compositions of colour, flora and fauna."
