This painting spans the decades and several changes of style. It was started in 1999 on Waiheke Island, where the hardboard panels were cut to shape and assembled in the frame. In 2005 the sky and mountains were painted, and in 2016 the foreground was completed. It is painted on three layers, with the mountains and the foreground hills being on separate jigsaw-cut hardboard layers, giving a 3d effect overall. The sky was made by pouring paint, and the foreground by various methods including spattering, cutouts, and marker pens.
