Description
A lovely street scene by Featherstone Robson.
"A bit of York".
Born in Northumberland, Robson showed an interest in drawing from an early age, and in his teenage years became a student of George Horton.
"In the 1920's he was commissioned to paint ‘popular scenes of the day’ such as Cathedrals of England, Coaching Inns, Seascapes and Pastoral scenes which were mass-produced as prints and sold by the major stores of Great Britain."
I believe this painting may have been part of this process.
Gorgeous pale hues of yellow, green, and red. An intelligently composed period street scene.
While the frame is cosmetically damaged, the work is in very good condition, and looks to have been stored well over the last century.
"Some exhibitions of his artworks included:
The Royal Academy – London The Royal Institute of Oil Painters – London The Art Gallery of Ontario – Toronto, Canada The Laing Art Gallery – Newcastle"
Frame Measures: 380w x 475h Artwork Measures: 210w x 300h
