"Silos, Heathcote Valley"
Unique mixed media artwork, mainly printed acrylic oil with ink pen paper 430 x 300mm, never been framed.
Captures the lovely old houses on the hill in Lyttleton
Provenance: Estate of Barbara Blakemore Fowler.
Condition: Excellent. Colour 100%, never seen the light of day. A couple of age spots appear on the surplus paper only and will frame out.
New Zealand artist, Barbara Elizabeth Blakemore Fowler (1921-2004), studied at Canterbury School of Fine Arts, New Zealand over the span of nine years, attending night classes. Her tutors included Bill Sutton, Rudi Gopas, Russell Clark.
At the same time she worked at the DSIR in geophysics and the US cosmic radiation program. Barbara was a member of the Canterbury Society of Arts for forty years, and regularly exhibited with the Society in Christchurch.
Clearly influenced by other great New Zealand female artists including Frances Hodgkins, Doris Lusk and Rita Angus.
Works regularly sell at International Art Centre, Parnell for much higher prices.
Very Collectable.
