My partner Mark worked in Ba, Fiji for six months a couple of years ago. He was the only white foreigner in town and got on well with all the local boys and men he worked with. Because he was friendly and shopped at local businesses he was well liked and asked to attend many family events. At one particular wedding, Mark was a “person of importance” and asked to sit at the head table with the priest and other significant figureheads. Mark was then presented with the masi.

Selling as we have a little house with lots of windows and nowhere to hang this masi.

We've queried if it would be ok to return the masi to the Fijian family, even if we waited and gave it to their next generation. But we have been told that would be considered insulting and rude.

• Length 4010 cm long by 183 cm wide
• This is a family masi and was meant to be presented to the groom at his wedding. The masi is then put up on the hut/house walls and photos, keepsakes, etc. attached to it.
• Has been stored folded for about last 2 years
• Is in good to very good used condition (see photos). From smoke-free home
• Was treated by MAF upon bringing into NZ.
