Description
Evidently these prints were originally hand painted prints from a book called " A History of British Birds "by Reverend Francis Orpen Morris (25 March 1810 – 10 February 1893). He was an Irish clergyman, notable as "parson-naturalist" (ornithologist and entomologist) and as the author of many children's books and books on natural history and heritage buildings. He died on 10 February 1893 and was buried at Nunburnholme, East Riding of Yorkshire, England. A History of British Birds came in 7 volumes and the first edition had only 1000 printed The drawings were first drawn by Richard Alington and then engraved onto wood blocks by Benjamin Fawcett who was the book's printer. Many books have survived and people have dismantled them and framed the hand coloured printed pages. Condition of both is good.
