Merrilyn Jaquiery is one of New Zealand's finest wildlife artists that is internationally recognized. She infuses a rare beauty into her art, her use of colour is both sensitive and inspiring. Her attention to detail is precise, without losing the creative flair which distinguishes her work. Merrilyn's opinion is that "Art should not be something which stands only on technical merit, but should be something that delivers emotional feeling as well."
In 1981 Jaquiery was commissioned by the World Wildlife Fund to paint the endangered NZ ground parrot "Kakapo", and her chick. The painting 'Kakapo' now hangs in the collection of His Royal Highness, The Prince Philip - Duke of Edinburgh. Funds raised from prints of this painting were used to erect a hut on Stewart Island. She was later made the first life member of the NZ branch of the World Wildlife Fund.
Merrilyn's paintings have found their way into prestigious collections throughout the United States, the United Kingdom and other parts of the planet. She has become particularly well known for current and sold out Limited Edition prints. Thirty editions have currently sold out.
