This book that looks at the life and times of trucking back in the day in the Urewera forest area. Hauling logs and timber out of places like Minginui, Te Whaiti, Maungapahatu are talked about and the good thing is he has the photos from the era in there as well.

Gavin’s knowledge and photos make this book a wonderful aid to anyone wanting to understand how logging trucks in New Zealand evolved post WWII. His understanding of the needs of transport companies and loggers allows him to explain the reasoning behind the design of trucks and trailers. He recalls the great models of the past and has some great shots of Trevor Doidge’s unique truck ‘Brutus’, a 6V71 GM powered truck with a tank transmission and a bonnet off a Le Tourneau dozer.
