One time only auction This lot comprises 17 autobiographical comic books from publisher Fantagraphics. 16 x Real Stuff written by Dennis Eichhorn (Fantagraphics) [2, 3, 4, 7-13, 15-20(final issue)] art by P Bagge JR Williams Lynda Barry Carol Lay covers by Hernadez Clowes Kuper Doucet ect ect ect all the 90s greats. Happy-sad tales of Jock-Bartender-Bouncer Eichhorn's adventures in the mid- and wild- west 1970s. Eichhorn edited (and peddled back issues of) the North-West Extra, a short lived magazine that examined the then hip exploding underbelly of US counterculture, eg Bukowski, Burroughs, Pekar, and collected enough stories to make a fascinating series. He wrote three new books of stories in 2014 and then died in 2015. Trigger warning: Denny is also a violent dick, or was as a teenage footballer, he became somewhat less of a dick and therefore less in need of actual violence, cf implied violence 1 x Big Mouth art by Pat Moriarty (Fantagraphics) [3] Moriarty illustrates stories by Penn & Teller, Henry Rollins, Joe Coleman, and others. Included here because of the Peter Bagge story which tells of a dinner party Eichhorn was at. My guess is Eichhorn came across a copy of American Splendor and decided “I can do that”. Where everybody in Harvey's stories comes across as a character bit in Harvey's movie, Eichhorn's stories pivot on those moments where everything is about to go completely out of control. There's a story here about Wild Man Fischer that is epically hair raising. Highly recommended! 5 star Re-readability rating. Schadenfreude never goes out of style. Bid with confidence!
