This is an auction for THE PENGUIN STEPHEN LEACOCK.

Amazon.com review:

"Although Stephen Leacock may be remembered as a father of Canadian culture, he was a humourist of the school of Dickens and Mark Twain, exuding a universal quality that knew no borders. He taught the world, and perhaps more importantly Canada itself, that Canadians could laugh heartily and without reserve at themselves.
This collection of his works—including several Sunshine Sketches and witticisms such as "How to Introduce Two People to One Another,""The Perfect Optimist,"and "How to Borrow Money"—demonstrates a warmth and wit that during his lifetime permeated his casual speech and possessed a timeless quality that lives on today."

From Wikipedia:

"Stephen Leacock (1869–1944) was a Canadian teacher, political scientist, writer, and humourist. Between the years 1910 and 1925, he was the most widely read English-speaking author in the world. He is known for his light humour along with criticisms of people's follies. The Stephen Leacock Memorial Medal for Humour was named in his honour. Early in his career, Leacock turned to fiction, humour, and short reports to supplement (and ultimately exceed) his regular income. His stories, first published in magazines in Canada and the United States and later in novel form, became extremely popular around the world. It was said in 1911 that more people had heard of Stephen Leacock than had heard of Canada..."
