Widnall: A Capital Contriver - The Story of a Victorian Household in the Village of Grantchester
by Christine Jennings

"This book tells the story of a Victorian houshold in the secluded village close to Cambridge. Page Widnall, although a farmer, gave most of his time to more amusing enerprises. On acquiring the Old Vicarage in 1850 he first built a 'Castle Ruin' folly in its garden, its upper floor soon becoming a photographic studio and occasional theatre, the lower parts used for carpentry and metalwork. There he made gadgets, models and dolls' houses, and also the printing press on which he produced several books. His originality was displayed both in fiction and in the History of Grantchester."
