Mervyn Cull
as new
Hazard Press, 1997, good condition

A New Zealander inside Chinese journalism

To Westerners generally, China presents a grim image. Cull discovered China's other side when he worked in Beijing for the Chinese and with them. There he found friendship, warmth, kindness, generosity as well as a sense of humour and fun that matched his own.

His job was helping young journalists with their English and advising them on Western journalistic practices. It also introduced him to the world of 'the foreign experts' - those companiable, travel-worn and often delightfully eccentric expats hired by China for their skills.
