Like Philip I'm a fan first and foremost, and though not - quite – old enough to have been a buyer of the wonderful Shell New Zealand Motor Racing Annuals put together by Peter Greenslade and Euan Sargison back in the late 1960s and early 1970s, I know the impact the copies I've been able to track down still have on me.

I can only hope that the efforts of the writers and photographers Philip assembles each year resonate as strongly on the next generation of fans, as the old Shell Annuals did on me and mine.” (Ross MacKay)
