Colin Garratt has made it his mission to photograph steam locomotives wherever he could find them. He is an outstanding photographer. In this book, he captures the last days of steam in Britain, France, Germany and other European countries, then goes on to Central and South America, Africa and Asia.

Most of the pictures show steam locomotives in all their majesty. There are a few pictures showing abandoned, rusting locomotives, including three locomotives sent to Alaska during the gold rush but abandoned over a century ago. The two broad-gauge locomotives rusting away in the Azores are amazing.

This book chronicles the demise, in pictures, of steam locomotives around the world, beginning with the end of mainline British steam in 1968, and it does that job well.

Excellent original as new condition. A beautiful book. The pages are clean and not soiled or stained. Corners are sharp. The book is free of any page markings and smells good.
