Michael Palin was lucky enough to be able to visit the Mount Everest Base Camp at 17.500 feet - the mountain is over 29,000 feet high - which was pretty good for a man who was 60 years old at the time. Michael also met the Dali Lama and was surprised to discover that the Dali Lama was already a fan of his, having watched his previous travel shows.
