Description
From a Japanese Prison by Samuel Heaslett is a December 1943 fourth edition published in England under the Book Production War Economy Standard. It was first published in February 1943.
Produced for the Student Christian Movement Press Ltd, London, it is a soft card cover 64-page 12.5x18.5cm in good condition for its age, with just minor cover and spine wear and turned-up corners to some back pages.
Samuel Heaslett, DD, was Bishop of South Tokyo from 1933-40 and for 11 years was Presiding Bishop of the Nippon Sei Kokwai.
He arrived in China in 1900 and during WWI served three years with the Chinese Labour Corps in France.
This book describes his experiences from his arrest on December 8, 1941, to July 30, 1942, when he sailed for the UK on the Foreign Office priority list after his release.
