Description
Death on the Roof ; By Basil Francis ; Quality Press London, 1946, first edition, hard cover, brown cloth, black lettering to spine, a nice tidy copy (edges browned, leaves slightly browned near edges) in dust wrapper (chips & short closed tears to extremities). 200pp.
Hospitals unfortunately are often the scene of death, but when the chief medical officer is killed by falling from the roof and there are signs that the railing against which he has been leaning has been tampered with, there is reason to suspect foul play. The two detectives are confirmed in this view when one of the patients disappears and is subsequently found to have been murdered. A hospital is no easy ground to search for clues. Several of the large staff of doctor and nurses had the opportunity and a possible motive. But the police eventually track down the criminal, and how they do it makes a story of unusual interest.
