Baskets Away The Formative Years of Gisborne and District
Iain Gillies,

Book Description: Gisborne City Council, Gisborne NZ, 1976. Hard Cover. The formative years of the Gisborne district are the subject of this history, published to mark 100 years of local government in the area. The title has its origins in the method of transferring passengers to and off ships lying in the roadstead before Gisborne had established port facilities. The author's excellent but brief text material is supported by a great selection of historic photographs etc to tell the story of the region's progress from primative to progressive.
