Nice copy, published Whitcombe and Tombs in 1953, the seventh printing of the first edition, still in dustwrapper, covered in plastic, a few discreet seminary stamps, not serious, and clean pages.
Perhaps the most striking thing about this book is the "Conversation" section, with conversations on all sorts of topics with English/Maori parallel text. Topics include Buying Ladies Clothing.... "I want a straw bonnet with a white feather" and a sporting and shooting section, with translations for "Your powder is wet" and "Do not fire at the parrot." Hard to imagine much use for such phrases anymore, but a fascinating insight into the past. There are many of these sub sections, including one on Mythology. Great little piece of history. Presumably it is collectable.
