Description

In Softcovers, First Edition No date?, end papers, Black and White Photographs, 44 Pages, Published By The Author?. A Fine Copy. 'This book is about the twilight era of Steam locomotives on New Zealand Railways. In 1965 the author went down from Auckland in the North Island to live in the South Island town of Oamaru. Unfortunately when I became aware that the day of the diesel age was well and truly entrenched on the North Island railway scene I decided to make the move down south. Classes such as the A and Ww classes could by 1965 be only found mainly at Greymouth and Invercargill. Some 75% of all North island trains were being hauled by diesel including the regular main trunk express and long distance runs by the freight trains'
