Description
One very rare, numbered copy of this splendid two volume collection.
John James Audubon was an American ornithologist, naturalist, and painter. He was notable for his extensive studies documenting all types of American birds and for his detailed illustrations that depicted the birds in their natural habitats.
The original, a 19th century masterpiece, replete with 435 hand-coloured illustrations, has long been considered a crucial document about U.S. natural history. At a recent auction for the original, the winning bid of $10,270,000 went to an anonymous collector bidding by telephone, auction house Sotheby’s said.
This numbered copy of the masterpiece has been lovingly stored since its purchase in the 1970s. Sadly it has some damage, although slight. Please see photos for more detail.
Viewing by appointment. This set will only be available for a short period and will not be fixed price offered. No Buy Now. Overseas bidders welcome.
Please bear in mind the books are approximately 15Kg each.
