Description
Foreword by Lord Baden-Powell
Published by the Girl Guides Association, London First published April 1932 Second impression May 1932 Cheap edition October 1933 252pp. Hardcover w/ dust jacket
From the dust jacket: "Mrs Mark Keer, Girl Guide Deputy Chief Commissioner for London and the Home Counties, has an unrivalled knowledge of the Movement. She was one of the first to see the potentialities of the Baden-Powell scheme if adapted for girls, and the story she so vividly and humourously tells of those pioneer days, is a record of courage, faith and triumphant achievement, in face of considerable criticism."
24 pages of photographs. (Please note that none of these illustrations have been scanned in order to avoid damaging the spine.)
Condition The sturdy dust jacket is intact but does show a bit of ageing, and some wear and tear inc. a faded spine and a few small rips. The inside flap has not been price clipped. The hardcover shows some fading along the top and bottom edges, as well as along the spine, and there is some very slight wear to the corners as well. The pages are in remarkably good condition, although the end-papers front do bear an inscription (dated 1935). The attachment of the pages at the spine is starting to show signs of pulling away, so care in handling is recommended.
