Description
For Australian enthusiasts and especially collectors of Norman Lindsay materials. A collection of witty amorous verse verging occasionally on the risqué by Hugh McRae, with illustrations by McRae’s friend Norman Lindsay and an Introduction by Lionel Lindsay.
Hugh McCrae, Colombine. With XI illustrations by Norman Lindsay. Sydney: Angus & Robertson Ltd., 1920. Quarto, papered boards with cloth spine, 53 pp., 11 tipped-in plates by Norman Lindsay. My understanding is that this edition was limited to 1,000 copies.
The spine has darkened and is beginning to split at the edges. Boards are a bit grubby. The front free endpaper has been neatly removed, front board a little loose but holding. Inner gutter split in a couple of places, and page 25 and 38 have detached but remain present, albeit with some edge wear. A few other pages are partially lose at the gutter.
In summary, a less than pristine copy of a rare book.
