PRACTICAL SHEEP FARMING.
The above is the title of the latest
volume published on the sheep indus-
try, and is written by a man who has
been right through the mill. The
author is Thomas Cadell Norris, second
son of the late Major G. C. Norris, of
the 80th Regiment of the New South
Wales staff. Bom in Australia in 1875,
he was educated in Sydney. He began
practical sheep experience on a station
on the Bogan River in 1893, and since
then has continued to make a study
of the sheep-breeding industry in all
its ramifications. He went to Argen-»
tina in 1907, and was the first person
to introduce modern methods of
handling sheep in Northern Pata-
gonia. Instrumental in developing and'
popularising the . Australian merino
type in South America, he induced the
local flock book authorities to open a
stud register for them. His book con-
tains chapters on mustering, . yard;
work, drafting, ear marks, lamb mark-
ing, mothering, shearing, handling
wool, breeding, etc.
