This is not a 400V full-size converter where nothing has to be changed inside a machine. With a low-cost M or MB converter, a machine has to be modified to run on 3x 230V (North America standard). Most motors and many machines are designed for both voltages.

MB produces 85%, M produces 65% motor power, enough for hand operated machines. (A car hoist with an MB converter would have a somewhat reduced load capacity.)

M or MB converts 230V single phase into 230V three-phase for a single motor. Technology is sine-wave synchronised capacitor switching as in Booster converters. Do not oversize a converter, the converter's kW rating must match the motor's rating.

How to change a three-phase motor to 230V: Change metal bars from star to delta. Open the motor terminal and follow the instructions you will find inside the lid. This is possible with most motors up to 3kW but not possible with two-speed motors.

Advantages over a single to three-phase inverter (VFD, VSD): a. High startup torque, a motor starts fast. b. Motor contactors in a machine can remain as they are designed in (on/off, fwd/rev). c. Pure sine wave output, a motor runs quietly. d. No high voltage needle pulses; any motor can be used. No motor longevity concerns. e. No manual is supplied, no programming is required. f. Connections are simple and easy.

In a machine: Change motor, control transformer, push-button motor starter to 230V. (As an email attachment, we will supply tips to change a machine to 230V three-phase.)
