Get your vintage gear working reliably on your local network with a vintage 10base-T hub!

Have you ever noticed that vintage computing devices with 10base-T Ethernet, often do not like talking to modern 10/100/1000 auto-negotiating network switches and routers? Sometimes it's the auto MDI-X thing, and sometimes it's the speed negotiation. and then there's those devices with ONLY a 10base-2 thin coax connector...

This is your answer!

The Racal InterLan Link 32TP is a real tank from early 1995 - the chip dates are late 1994 - it's a fully working desktop 32 port 10base-T network hub, with AUI and Thin Coax transceiver built in.

Made in the good ole U S of A, this weighty beast is built like a fallout bunker with a good thick steel case.

Internally, it has a fan cooled power supply (a bit noisy but runs fine, looks like it's a ball bearing fan) serving two identical boards of 16 channels each, as sold in a 16ch version, linked together with the coax/AUI componentry installed on the lower one and absent on the top one.

Port 16 has a switch for crossover or Mdi and while not labelled as such, seems intended for uplink from a router, but curiously the boards seem to be set up to work with the top 16 as "normal pc/terminal/printer" and the lower 16 as crossover for other smaller hubs, modems etc. I can't find anything on the net to shed light on this, but this must have cost a packet when new.

Weirdly it's not even 1U rackmount standard - it's about 10mm too high, and doesn't have the usual 2/3/4 screw holes for rack ears - instead it seems intended for desktop use, or else placed on a server tray or rails, as there are 2 screw holes on the bottom at left and right edges that could secure it there.

Cables shown for demo purposes only but I'll throw in a random power cable if you want, plus a few genuine 10 base T cables as they're no use for 100/1000 use!

(Note: I also have an older 1992 InterLan Link 320, a 2-board device with NO fan so the PSU has cooked itself... ask if anyone wants)
