Another long-tailed and woolly beast discovered in the back paddock, this is an as-new Askey (Dynalink) VGA - TV video converter from the 1990s, model VDE030

Back in the day when projectors were still a bit too pricey, and before VGA (and later, HDMI) sockets were regular features on TVs, the easiest way to do your presentation to a big room was playing video or PowerPoint slides from your computer onto a large screen TV.

This unit takes a VGA signal in (and echoes it to a VGA monitor, necessary if you're not using a laptop) and generates a standard analogue video rasterised version for display on a TV with composite or S-video inputs.

Requires 5v power, comes with a ps2 style mini-din power tap for plugging into the pc's mouse or keyboard port.

Of course, a PAL analogue TV only makes a very low resolution monitor and so the picture isn't great by modern standards - you couldn't use it as a primary screen as icons and small print are simply too blurry - it was intended to make a passable display of a video or powerpoint slides running on your laptop.
