This piece of artistic woodturning by Steve Marshall was awarded First Place in the "decorated bowl" category at TURNZ 2004 (the Woodturning competition organised by the NZ National Association of Woodturners).

The main (blue) platter is turned from a single piece of Maple to a uniform thickness of about 3 mm. The other components are all made from Bubinga (a beautiful african hardwood) turned, carved and inlaid.

This is a decorative sculptural piece, not a functional bowl.
