To maintain the highest capacity of lithium Ion batteries, it is best to fully discharge them when first used, for three cycles. Then it can be recharged at any time with no memory effect.

Generic batteries.

Quality control is not as good as with brand name batteries. As a result a number will not charge, not hold their charge or fail in a short period of time.

If this is the case I will replace the battery.. In my experience about 1 in 25 fails in this way.

Capacity of generic batteries:

This is indicated by the number of shots which can be taken with a fully charged battery. With some generic batteries the number of shots is not what would be expected by the stated capacity in mAh. I therefore cannot give any guarantee that the manufacturers stated capacity is accurate.
