INSTEON Open/Close Sensor is a magnetic contact sensor that wirelessly controls lights and appliances throughout your house. When magnetic contact is broken, such as a door or window being opened, Open/Close Sensor can do things like turn on lights, set the thermostat to its comfort setting, or trigger a custom event or scene.

How it Works Simply install a battery (included), adjust the settings (jumper) based on your application, link Open/Close Sensor to other device(s) on your INSTEON network, and then it is ready for mounting. The INSTEON Open/Close Sensor has been pre-configured (default setting) to turn on a light (or other INSTEON controlled device) when your door is opened (magnetic contact is open) and off when the door is closed (magnetic contact is closed). This default setting is great for doors, windows, garage doors, sheds or closets where you want the lights to turn on when the door is opened and you can be sure the lights are off when the door is closed. Open/Close Sensor's second setting allows for a more custom type of control: Turn on (or off) one set of lights or devices when the door is opened and turn on (or off) another set of devices when the door is closed.
