Its a room with no windows; the only room in the house where the residents can take shelter when the warm, harsh African winds lash Sicily for three days straight, leaving everything covered in sand.

For those three days, the family will be forced to reside in the Scirocco Room, keeping themselves occupied and anticipating their return to the outside world.

At any moment in the Scirocco Room, the door could blow open, scattering the rooms contents to the wild winds of Africa.
