3 Nikau palms. At least 60 cm tall, from top of container. Two - three years old.

Rhopalostylis Baueri var. Cheesmanii, originally from the Kermadec Islands. This variety of NZ Nikau grows more rapidly and has a more open stance than the R. Sapida. It is a more graceful and tropical looking palm with wider fronds . It will tolerate growing in the shade but will grow much better in full sunlight.

The parent plant is 6 metres tall and 18 years old, with a 2.5 metre trunk. Grows in the shade or sun, but until fully hardened off the summer sun can cause sunburn on the leaves. Grown in quality potting mix.

Why three palms? Two reasons: 1. An odd number of plams planted together / nearby looks more ascetically pleasing, and I can fit three palms into one courier bag! For larger orders additional courier costs apply e.g. double for six palms, triple for 9 palms.

The photographed palms are representative palms, not necessarily the ones you are buying, but they will be equal to if not better than the photographed one and guaranteed to be at least 60 cm tall. Please bear in mind that palms naturally shed the outside leaves or fronds. The process starts by the leaf starting to discolour and looking a little tatty until it eventually dies. If the outside leaf on you palm looks in not as good condition as the inside leaves, this is natural!
