Avocado Tree Planting time

This is the perfect time of year to plant Avocado, and we have our beautiful fresh premium trees ready to plant.

Avocado trees can grow big, but are also really easy to keep trimmed to around 2m tall and 1.5m wide, so can be used in smaller gardens. Growing avocado trees can be tricky - they must have well drained soil, shelter, and protection from frost.

Fortunately we have everything you need for success - They love growing in Kaipara Coast Garden Mix, Avocado fertiliser and Avocado rootmate. Plant your tree using the same products commercial growers use.

These are all grafted trees onto Zutano rootstock.

They may produce fruit in 2021 and 2022, however we strongly recommend removing any flowers for the first 2-3 years to ensure the tree puts its energy into roots and shoots.

Varieties available:

FUERTE

• Plant near Avocado 'Hass' or 'Reed'
• Fruit ripe Aug - Oct.
• Smooth flesh that comes easily away from skin.

BACON:

• Plant near Avocado 'Hass' or 'Reed'
• Fruit ripe May - Aug.
• Medium sized good textured fruit, larger seed.

REED: - Plant near 'Bacon' or 'Fuerte'

• Fruit ripe Feb - April.
• This is the largest best textured avocado variety

HASS:

• Plant near 'Bacon' or 'Fuerte'
• Fruit ripe: Nov - March.
• The most commonly planted avocado variety

We can fit up to 2 Avocado trees in a box for the prices below, or come and collect from our Plant Nursery in Kaukapakapa.
