Feverfew is a perennial native to southeastern Europe and Asia.
James Wong's book "Make your Own Drugs" says that a few Feverfew leaves a day in a salad or used in a tea, will keep migraines away.
Feverfew loves full sun, copes with bad soil, little moisture and grows among weeds.
Plant by seed in the spring or root division in autumn. Feverfew can grow up to two feet. Its leaves have an aromatic smell, but somewhat bitter taste. The plant will live through a mild winter if placed in a sheltered spot.
Flowers which appear from summer until mid-autumn look like daisies with yellow centers. As feverfew self sows its seed, the flowers will be quite plentiful.
Dry the flowers face down on a flat surface to use later in potpourri. The leaves, flowers and occasionally, the stems, are used for medicinal purposes.

Store no longer than 120 days to maintain full effectiveness. Studies reveal feverfew leaves are best stored in powdered form in freezer conditions (-15C).

Medicinal Benefits Of Feverfew
Early American settlers introduced feverfew from Europe for its medicinal properties and to plant near homes to repel bees, wasps and other unwelcome insects.

Herbalists believe feverfew lowers blood pressure and aids digestion and liver function.
They prescribe feverfew tea or fresh feverfew leaves added to salads to reduce the severity and frequency of migraine headaches.

Feverfew is an ancient pain-reliever used for migraines, arthritis and menstrual cramps.
Its pain-relieving qualities are believed to come from parthenolide, a compound in the plant that reduces muscle spasms. You can purchase feverfew tablets and extract at health food stores , but
the safest way to take it is in a tea, which you can prepare at home.
