Description
Poppies can be sown Spring &/or Autumn .
PLEASE NOTE: This auction is for one packet (approx 150 seeds) of MIXED poppies. I can't specify which colours/ flowers you will get. There will probably be some singles and some Peonies. It's highly improbable that you would get ALL singles or ALL peonies. Photo is just a small indication of what might be in your mix.
~ If you would like THREE different packets/colours/types of my Poppies please check out my listings - I have an auction for 'Your choice of 3 pkts" at a cheaper rate than if you bought specific colours/types separately. ~
These Poppies grow to around a metre tall.
It is recommended that these are started in Spring or Autumn. They are frost and, snow hardy. I know this as we had 4 inches of snow here one winter and none of my plants were effected!
I prefer to start seedlings in punnets (though they can be sown directly onto the ground where you wish them to grow)
Put seed raising mix into a punnet (or two) water and leave to settle for at least 15 minutes. Gently firm down the soil and add a bit more seed raising mix(the mix will have sunk). Carefully scatter about 20 of the seeds onto the surface. Fine seed usually doesn't require covering.
Always water by spraying with a fine sprayer (any old window cleaner type spray bottle is fine as long as it has been thoroughly cleaned before use). It is important that the surface soil doesn't dry out before germination.
Once the plants are at the four leaf stage (and conditions are right) they can be transplanted into the garden - put a stake in first then plant the poppy beside it. They require minimal care once established.
150 seeds absolute minimum
