The Opportunity

Our client is a large privately-owned group of automotive businesses based in Auckland that is expanding rapidly. They are on the lookout for a dynamic Finance Manager to join the team.

This is a crucial position within the group and you will need to be able to take ownership of your team and work autonomously, whilst at the same time being able to reach out for support when needed.

The Role

Key responsibilities will include:

  • Having primary oversight of financial information for the business you work in
  • Analysing the financial consequences of planned future events and to review subsequent performance against forecast after 6 months and after 12 months (or as required)
  • Reviewing of internal audit testing of internal controls as noted in the finance calendar, or of any other process that is deemed appropriate
  • Ensuring compliance with, IRD requirements, IFRS and all other applicable laws and statutes
  • Overseeing information systems capability including system users. Identify gaps, issues and propose improvements. Assist with any IT & system improvements.
  • You will be responsible for the management and development of the Entity Finance team including planning and co-ordinating workloads and resources
  • You will set management reporting content and present to management teams
  • You will set monthly Board report content, prepare commentary, review and present to Board
  • You will set direction for Accounts Receivable team and approve credit control limits within delegated authority
  • You will prepare monthly payroll and review fortnightly payroll
  • Responsible for tax planning and management of compliance. Approve tax payments
  • Review monthly balance sheet reconciliations
  • Instigate, review and manage forecast plans, set Board reporting content and present to the Board
  • You will oversee cash management, ensure forecasting is accurate and credible
  • Identify and communicate key business, legal and governance risk areas. Propose solutions to mitigate or remove risks
  • Management and guidance of accounting policies to Finance team and wider business.
  • Build and maintain solid working relationships with the management team and wider finance team to provide financial management, decision support and participation in entity decision making
  • Assist where appropriate with any other project as directed by the CFO

About You

  • You will be a qualified accountant, preferably CA
  • You will ideally have prior audit and commercial experience and as you are ambitious you are looking to use that experience in an environment where you can further grow and develop
  • You will have a thirst for learning and have great interpersonal skills
  • You will have advanced IT skills especially excel
  • You will be well presented and be effective at communicating at all levels within an organisation
  • You will have the ability to work under pressure and within tight deadlines
  • You will have the ability to work with strong personalities in cohesive and mutually beneficial manner
  • You will be results orientated with the commercial acumen to ask the right questions
  • You will have the ability to interpret and analyse financial data, see what's not there, determine trends and to plan business strategies
  • You will be able to demonstrate the ability to work under pressure and within tight deadlines
  • You will have proven that you have sufficient professional standing and level of performance to be seen as a company leader
