About the role
In this position you will be based at Waireka Field Station, 10 minutes south west of New Plymouth, Taranaki. Reporting to the Field Station Leader you will be responsible for conducting and monitoring trials to characterise the field performance of new chemistry compounds in line with global research programmes. You will provide input into globally driven protocols, summarise data at the local level and contribute to global field data summaries. You will also provide local knowledge on crop management practices, issues and trends to the Integrated Field Sciences (IFS) team as well as the commercial organisation.

Skills/ experience
We are looking for a hands-on, inquisitive and self-starting scientist with a background in Plant Pathology. You will also have the proven ability to develop and maintain strong and trusting working relationships with your colleagues (locally and globally) and contacts outside of the business.

To be considered a serious candidate for this role, you should have:


  • A relevant tertiary qualification in Plant Pathology or Agricultural Sciences
  • Practical experience in execution of field management trials
  • Small plot trial experience highly desirable
  • Good understanding of trial designs and goals
  • Knowledge of statistics and data management
  • Very good report writing skills
  • Sound decision making and problem-solving skills
  • Strong communication relationship building skills
