We are now looking for a Driver/ Operator to join our Milford Alliance team.

About the role:
This role is a key part of the Milford Road Alliance. The Alliance is a combination of both NZ Transport Agency and Downer NZ staff based in Te Anau whose sole focus is the Milford road. This includes the avalanche control programme, winter road maintenance, Homer tunnel management and incident response.

The role will be based in Te Anau, working on the Milford Road and in the Fiordland National Park.
The Operator Driver is responsible for ensuring the all plant is presented, serviced, maintained and operated in a professional, safe and efficient manner that complies with all relevant legislation, regulation and policy, and achieves agreed productivity and quality targets.
You will ensure pre-start checks and daily job records are completed out along with operating the plant and equipment in a correct and safe manner. You will also assist other team members, maintain a safe work environment and ensure documentation is completed correctly. The Varied type of work undertaken will include manual labour and non-plant related activities.

About you:
• Class 3 Licence (preferably 4 and 5)
• WTR licence endorsements
• Previous road construction and/or maintenance experience required
• Experience operating excavator, loaders and rollers
• Experience in construction such as concrete, formwork, woodworking skills would be preferred
• Chainsaw experience would be an advantage
• Good level of physical fitness as the job requires manual labouring at times
• Winter maintenance experience and the ability to work in sometimes demanding natural conditions such as snow, etc. would be an advantage
• First aid, working at heights TC/STMS qualifications would be an advantage
• High level of motivation
• Have safe work practices
• Numerical skills and legible handwriting
