We are looking for a construction professional is interested in working for a large construction company with project work across two of New Zealand's main cities.
The workload is as strong as it's ever been, so there is a lot going on. For this reason among others, we need the services of someone that understands building economics. This means that you will most likely come from a QS or PQS background, you will a decent amount of consulting or main contractor experience and understand issues around procurement and how this affects construction.
Your knowledge of materials and the different avenues of construction means that you can provide advice to Project Managers, Construction Managers and Designers around best practice. A typical example could be talking to the developer who wants a square structure, when in fact as you will know a rectangular structure is actually cheaper to construct and offers better efficiencies in a number of areas.
There will be challenges, there will be processes and frameworks to create - there will be lots of stakeholder engagement and relationships that need to be managed appropriately - but the end result is that you will be able to say you are responsible for providing insight and efficiencies into best practice around the construction of this firms projects.
To be suitable for this role we need you to have a relevant tertiary or equivalent qualification. You need to understand procurement methodologies as well as the NZ building codes - and of course, you will have knowledge of the different methods of construction commonly used in the commercial sector in New Zealand.
